Hey...thanks for coming.  Here's a little about how I obtained my pretty kitty named Gizzmo.  My friend had a mother and son from the same litter, along with Gizzmo and a boxer.  They got along very well.  I would constantly go over and visit to talk with my friends, and chill with them.  One day, the boxer was playing with the mother and son and had played with them a little too roughly and...

...had involuntarily snapped their necks.  Everyone was shocked that this had happened.  Seeing as though I loved Gizz to death, they asked me if I wanted to take him, b/c they loved the dog over the cat, and didn't want to see the same happen to him.  I happily accepted to take him.  I had went home to get my bike bag, which was small, b/c  he was small.  I had put him in the bag and let his head stick out so he could get some air as we rode on the horrible bus.  He was meowing and didn't know what was happening, but soon it would be over...

I took him home with me and my mom loved him, he was happy and I let him explore the apartment.  He has grown in the past 2 years.  I don't know what I would ever do w/o him.  I'd probably get another one, but there would be a total period of 2 minutes where I would be depressed.  =)

Gizzmo is like any other cat, and has his mood swings and can be a royal pain, but I love him, at times!  I'm working on getting more current pictures on my website, but these will have to do for now.  That's all I have to say about Gizzy for right now.  Make sure you come back and check to see my updates!  =)

HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW YOUR VET...

This happened to my sister....Please take a minute to read this, it could save your pets' life!I In the hope that it will educate people and prevent the tragedy that has recently happened to me, (my sister). I warn you it is lengthy and please take time to read it and forward it. It could save your animals life. I have also sent a picture of Doc.
I have had cats for 8 years and having them has taught me many things. Anyone that owns an animal knows that you absolutely know your pets moods and behaviors, and when something is wrong with them you want to take care of them immediately. For most, these pets are our family and more commonly, our children. Some people do not understand this connection, but I think everyone can identify with having a close family member or friend.
Well my cat, officially known as Doc, loveably nicknamed DoDoos, became sick just a few short days ago. We knew something was wrong, he was vomiting green liquid and he was not eating or drinking or going to the bathroom. We contacted out vet clinic, described the symptoms, and they told us to come in the next day at 10:30 am . We took him to our vet, they are licensed physicians, they will know what to do and he will be as good as new.
When we took Doc to the vet, the doctor told us she could find nothing wrong. She simply took a little bit of blood, a nutrition shot and sent us on our way. We did not question her, after all she was a licensed doctor. This was not a doctor we normally had but its an animal hospital and there are often many different doctors there. This one we had never seen before, in fact she told my boyfriend she was new. At this time, we could never have known just what she meant by "new".
Later that night, Doc was having a real hard time breathing, he was still not eating, and barely moving. We called Angel Memorial Hospital in Boston, a well known hospital for animals. We simply described the symptoms to them, the same symptoms described to the doctor at our clinic just 12 hours earlier. They told us to bring him in immediately, it could be life threatening.
We got to Angel and they took him immediately. They explained to us that he was very ill and they did not know exactly what it was but they did know it was affecting his heart and his lungs and he could hardly breathe. They also explained the many procedures they would be doing, x-rays, cat scans, ultrasounds and they had him on an iv due to his paleness, dehydration and the fact he hadn't been eating, drinking or going to the bathroom in several days.
At 1:30am, they told us he was the same and they would be running more tests in the morning. We went home, confused and worried. At 5:00am, the doctor called to tell us that he almost died, they were giving him more fluids and his lungs couldn't take it he was throwing up more of this green liquid. Then just one half hour later, the doctor called back to tell us that our baby had died, his heart just gave out. The doctors could only tell us he had a severe infection in his lungs. He was only 7, he had no previous medical problems.
This was the worst news I have ever received and just like that my heart broke. Never again would I say his name or see his sweet face. I didn't even get to say goodbye. Everywhere I look, I see him.
But the saddest thing is, I believe it could have been prevented. We came to find out this new doctor we originally saw was not just new to our vet clinic, but newly graduated, just this year 2002. She could have asked another vet for assistance in a diagnosis, should have requested more tests, she should not have let him just go home. As owners, We should have stood our ground and not backed down just because her name has MD after it.
So I hope just one person learns from this. Don't be afraid to question your doctor. It could make the difference of your animal living or dying.
We have contacted the MSPCA and we are filing a complaint against her. They told us she graduated this year. We contacted the owner of the clinic we go to. He had no answers, no defense and just gave us our money back. It's not the money we want back, it's one more minute to hug, hold, and kiss our sweet baby. Thanks to the novice experience of this doctor, the last time we saw Doo Doo he was in a cardboard box and he was cold and we never got to say goodbye.
Hopefully, you read this, I am sorry it was so long. Please forward this to all your animal loving friends.
